Current challenges for modern vaccines and perspectives for novel treatment alternatives

With the on-going pandemic, vaccine developing methods have gained attention of scientific community, specially towards production, downstream and transport aspects, making it clear that new with less complex production are needed, especially for countries. In this work we review current used platforms, distribution aspects along challenges faced by each approaches. Some studies also been carried out proposing alternatives, most attractive one being concept edible vaccines, which suppose a considerable expenditure cut in some them, using mainly algae, yeast bacteria. Algae, bacteria granted GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) state FDA European food safety authority, them ideal safe as vectors biofactories at same time.
